Doing hip stretches can help your body maintain good posture and flexibility. Here are some of the things you can do:

Hip Stretches
  • The easiest kind of hip stretches that you can do is by doing leg swings. When you do leg swings, take note not to exert too much force on your legs. Some people have the tendency to swing their legs too much that it could strain the pelvic area. Swing your leg slowly and one at a time. You can do this exercise anywhere--in the office or even at home.
  • There are many hip stretches that you can do in most places. If you are in the office, after many hours of tiresome work in front of the computer, you can do some hip stretches to revive yourself. If you have a chair nearby, you can use this as an exercise tool. What you need to do is sit on your chair and try to face forward. As you are holding the chair, you will have to lift a leg and then stretch your foot out as if you are going to step. As soon as you've made this step, bring back the leg to the original position and do this to your other leg. Repeat this exercise about 10-20 times. Remember not to lean forward whenever you lift your leg for it may be difficult to extend your leg.
  • Another thing you can do is by doing an internal rotation of your hip joint. Sit on chair, and then move your feet apart. Make sure that your feet are flat on the floor, and then try tilting your one knee towards. Then go back to the original position. Repeat this exercise about 10-20 times as well.
  • Using your chair again, one of the popular hip stretches is the "Hip Extension." You will have to hold the back of your chair; as you do that, bend your knee and lift your foot back. Hold your foot or ankle, as soon as you've reached it, let you knee go down. Make sure that the chair has no wheels for you may topple down and get injured. Do this step 20 times.
  • Doing hip stretches is not difficult and you can do this without exerting too much effort; or, spending too much money on gym class. But, if you want to do an exercise that entails a lot of hip stretches, you can do yoga or pilates. These exercises stretches the muscles and at the same time providing you flexibility and balance.
